LASER SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT
As we age, developing spider veins, age spots and broken capillaries is unfortunately part of the process. Just because they are natural, does not mean that you are stuck with the unattractive discolorations on your face, chest and legs forever. One of the fastest and safest ways to remove spider veins and similar discolorations is through the use of multiple technologies – whether it is a 1064 YAG or Intense Pulse Light (IPL) therapy- we can get the job done.
Large areas can be treated quickly and easily, with less damage. IPL targets spider veins and discolorations deep below the surface of the skin without damaging the outer layer of the skin.
How the treatment works
Small facial veins and capillaries are now quickly treated with intense light form lasers or pulsed light. Vascular lasers and pulsed light systems target the hemoglobins in the blood, reducing and removing broken and dilated capillaries (referred to as telangiectasias) resulting from acne inflammation, sun damage, rosacea or heredity that are visible on your face or legs.
The hand-held device produces a wavelength that is almost completely transparent to the skin and is highly absorbed in the blood. This allows the laser beam to pass through the skin and penetrate the targeted vessels, causing the blood inside the vessel to coagulate and the vessel walls to collapse and seal. These vessels are then dissolved within the body.
Side Effects & Recovery
Laser treatments are also considered non-invasive procedures that can be done in a doctor’s office with little discomfort or downtime. A ‘cat-scratch’ type reaction occurs in some people along the length of the vessel. Hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation (loss of pigment) or blistering may occur, but will generally heal with no long-lasting side effects. If the treated area blisters following treatment, the blistered area should be left alone to heal naturally. It is important to avoid scratching or picking scabs or blisters as this could result in scarring. Very rarely, scarring may occur.
During your treatment, you will experience a slight stinging sensation but it will quickly subside. After the treatment, the appearance of of your veins will change from purple to blue to light red. Some veins may swell but this should disappear within a few hours. The redness will completely disperse within 2-6 weeks. You must wear sunscreen post treatment.
