LASER HAIR REMOVAL
The removal of unwanted hair has come a long way since the days of waxing, shaving, tweezing, depilatories, and electrolysis. Not only are those methods unpleasant, they are also temporary.
Laser hair removal offers a more comfortable, long-term solution. Vitality One offers safe and affordable laser hair removal for men and women – of all skin tones. If you have been considering laser treatments, we invite you to come in for a complimentary consultation.
HOW LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORKS
Using a combination of light and energy, the laser targets the melanin that is produced in the hair follicles during growth. This is why multiple treatments are needed, as hair follicles are in different growth phases. During the weeks leading up to the treatment, no waxing, tweezing, or depilatory creams can be used, as this will remove the hair bulb. Laser hair removal treatments are quick and convenient, with no downtime after each session.
Laser Hair Removal Side Effects & Recovery
Immediately following a laser treatment, clients should experience reddened and puffy skin. This is termed follicular edema and resembles goose bumps. It feels somewhat like a mild sunburn.
This effect disappears in a few minutes to a few hours. In the hands of an experienced laser technician using the right equipment, clients will not experience any damage to their skin. Many clients schedule treatments during their lunch-break and return to work with no visible indications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the process painful?
Most patients compare the feeling of the treatments to the “slapping of a rubberband”. Some people even say it tickles depending on the location of the treatment. The only discomfort, if any, will be during treatment and will not linger when you leave. Most patients compare post- treatment to the feeling of a mild sunburn
How Many Sessions Do I Need for Laser Hair Removal To Be Successful?
It depends on several factors. Thick hair responds better than thin hair and darker hair responds faster than the lighter ones. Six sessions of laser treatment for dark thick hair may induce about 75% to 85% of hair reduction. Legs are an example of dark thick hairs. The most responsive areas of the body for laser hair removal are the legs, underarms, and bikini area for both men and women. The male back and female face are more challenging and can take a few additional treatments. Of course results can vary from person to person and some get better results than others.
How Long Do I Wait in Between Sessions?
The average waiting period between treatments is 4 to 8 weeks. This period in between treatments gives your hair a chance to be caught in the “growth phase” of its life and this is when you will get the best results when performing laser hair removal. Your treatment program will be decided at your initial consultation and you will know, and be instructed, on how to care for your treatment area(s) and when to follow up.
What Areas of the Body Can be Treated for Laser Hair Removal?
Lasers can safely treat any body part except for the small area inside the bony ridge of the eye socket.
What Should I do to Prepare for my Treatment?
- Before your first session, it is important for you to avoid waxing for six weeks. This is also the case with the use of tweezers. The laser needs to be able to identify the hair follicle. During this time period, shaving is acceptable.
- You MUST stay out of the sun. Any tanning of the skin can result in pigmentation in the areas you laser.
- If you are prone to nervousness, you should avoid caffeine for 24 hours before your session.
- On the day before your treatment, you should shave with a clean, new razor. By shaving, the lasers will be able to locate the follicles. Using a clean, new razor ensures there is no lingering bacteria that could cause contact dermatitis after your laser treatment. (Contact dermatitis is a delayed type of allergic reaction of the skin resulting from skin contact with a specific allergen.)
What Should I Know Following my treatment?
Immediately following your treatment, and for two weeks after your session, you should avoid unprotected sun exposure. If you have to go out into the sun, then you will need to apply sunscreen with Zinc, 20 SPF, or higher. Clients obtaining laser hair removal treatments need to refrain from waxing and/or tweezing as a hair removal option. While receiving laser treatments, please shave to remove remaining hair in between laser sessions.
How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost?
We price by the session or you can by a package of four, six or eight treatments at a discounted rate. Price depends on which areas you would like to have treated.
Does Laser Hair Removal Work on All Skin Types?
A consultation is necessary to determine the specific laser treatment needed to meet your hair removal needs. The settings on our lasers can be adjusted depending on your hair and skin color.
