SMOOTH THE LINES. KEEP THE EXPERIENCES THAT MADE THEM.
A combination of factors can cause facial lines. It’s not just about the cellular changes that may occur, or reduction of collagen, or damage caused by free radicals from the sun and the environment.Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines.
BOTOX is a quick 10-minute treatment that works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults.
BOTOX can help fade these lines, so you look like you, only with less noticeable facial lines.
How Botox Injections Work
Botox injections are a very quick, simple and painless procedure that can take years off your appearance. Whenever you frown, laugh, or squint, certain facial muscles contract, as a result of making the same expression over and over, fine facial lines and wrinkles can developr. When used as an aesthetic treatment you will notice the gradual softening of lines in the affected area and results typically last 3-5 months. Botox blocks the nerve impulses and temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. While every patient is unique, most people begin to notice the effects of Botox within 1-10 days.
Botox Side Effects & Recovery
Botox injections don’t require a lot of downtime. That’s not to say the injections are completely risk-free. Mild redness, bruising, and swelling can crop up in the days following a treatment. Contrary to popular belief, the bacteria that causes botulism, clostridium botulinum, is not part of the treatment, nor are the six of the seven neurotoxins it secretes. The only substance used in Botox injections, botulinum A, is carefully extracted, purified, and standardized into FDA-Approved doses. Plus, the dosage is so small, it can’t get beyond the muscle tissue it’s injected into, meaning there is little if any chance for Botox to reach the bloodstream.
No anesthesia is needed but we encourage our patients to ice the area to be treated moments prior to the injection or a topical numbing cream may be used to ensure that the treatment is as pain-free as possible. Patients can return to their normal activities immediately following their treatment, however; we do not recommend exercising or lifting 24 hours after Botox injections to ensure that the product does not migrate.
